- A severe burn or scald can be dangerous. Dial 999 for an ambulance, or wrap your child in a clean sheet and take him to the nearest A&E department.
- Don't attempt to remove clothing stuck to burnt skin. Don't apply cream or ointment. Don't interfere with blisters or loose skin.
- First aid treatment: Cool injured area under cold running water for 10 minutes to ease pain and prevent blistering. Then cover with a wet cloth.
