  Make Your House Safe

Start thinking about making your home really safe even before your baby starts to crawl. There are some danger points which will be obvious to you such as stairs, low windows, open fires and hot cookers. But it's easy for grown ups to overlook other risks like table corners, slamming doors and electric sockets which can be the cause of minor, and sometimes serious, accidents.

Once your child reaches the terrible twos, nothing at home is safe from your toddler, and 'No' and 'Don't Touch' lose all meaning. While there is a lot you can do to make your home a safer place, you still need to be on your guard all the time. It's amazing what a toddler can do in a split second.

Living Room

Anti-Slam Doorstops - Simply hooks over the door to prevent little fingers getting caught.

Video Guard - It shields the cassette slot and buttons but allows you to use the remote control.

Socket Covers - These prevent fingers or objects being inserted.

Fireguard - Blocks off access to an open fire.

Safety Film - A roll of glass safety film helps keep broken glass safely in place until it's cleared away.

Corner Cushions - Cushions guard against sharp corners.

Bedroom

Window Catch - Locks the window in an open position but stops children from opening. Not suitable for double glazed or metal framed windows.

Smoke Alarm - An essential early warning system. They're battery operated and easy to install so place one on each floor of your home.

Safety Gate - A safety gate for the stairs is obviously a must and can also be used to create safe areas for your child in other parts of your home. All gates have a locking device which is simple for you but difficult for most toddlers under the age of two to master.

Anti-Slam Doorstops - Simply hooks over the door to prevent little fingers getting caught.

Baby Monitor - It's amazing how quickly mothers can recognise the sound of their baby crying from a distance or while they are asleep. But if you use a baby monitor to tune in, you will find it easier to relax and probably get a better night's sleep because you can be absolutely sure of know when your baby has woken up.

Socket Covers - These prevent fingers or objects being inserted.

Bathroom

Bathmat - A bathmat will prevent your toddler slipping in the bath.

Cupboard Slide-Lock - Locks on your cupboards to make access difficult for little children.

Multi-Purpose Lock - An essential havoc preventer. Restricts access to a variety of appliances such as lifting the toilet lid.

Kitchen

Cooker & Hob Guard - A must have to protect from hot pans and surfaces. Full width shields extend to fit your cooker or hob.

Fridge/Freezer Safety Catch - Stops them exploring while your back is turned.
