Toddler tantrums are unfortunately a normal stages in the life of a two year old.
- Don't try any kind of discussion with your child until the tantrum is over.
- Try and leave your emotions out of it as getting angry will make things worse.
- Don't worry what other people think. If you can, try and take him away from attention.
- Make and effort to hug and reassure your child. Talk soothingly and acknowledge how he's feeling.
- Don't give in to a tantrum as your child will think it is the way to get what he wants.
- If you can't cope, place your child somewhere safe and call someone objective to talk about it.
- If you can predict a potential tantrum situation, reason with your child and reward good behaviour.
- Afterwards, reassure your child that you love him even though his behaviour upsets you.
